Start the New Year Right! Think Email Safe!

Please Beware of These Emails!

The emails are coming from Microsoft One Drive or Dropbox… Supposedly…
Recently, emails have been hitting mailboxes that are far from benign. Following are two such emails seemingly, coming from reputable companies…

… BUT ARE THEY????

Showing Message form One Drive Message Center

In this first example, the message is being sent from the “One Drive Message Center”.
1. Upon closer review you will note the TRUE address: is not one from Microsoft at all, but cleverly masked to be from estreamtv.tv.
2. The name of the file is fairly generic. If this does not look like a file name you would use, and it is not expected, do NOT select the link.
THIS IS NOT A VALID SENDER!

Showing Message from Dropbox

In this example, the message is supposedly being sent from “Dropbox”.
1. Notice the lettering/Font. Note the TRUE address. Again, it is not a valid Dropbox email address: [email protected].
2. The address for the alleged file is not a valid link. It is more than likely going to direct the user to a corrupted or page or virus.
THIS IS NOT A DROPBOX EMAIL!

So, to review and answer the question above: “Are these reputable emails”?
In this case, the answer is NO… DEFINITELY NO!

The best thing you can do, if you are unsure about an email, contact the person who it supposedly came from. If this is not a person readily available to call and ask … again..

DO NOT OPEN THEM!
Delete!

If it is important, the person will readily contact you or be available with clear file naming and placement with which you are familiar.

On that note: Have a WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON and do NOT let this event be the Grinch that stole your fun!
If for some reason it is too late, and the link has been selected..
